Domain
Registration
Important to both email addresses and to
business websites, a domain name forms the main part of your email
address (info@yourcompany.com)
and the entire website address (www.yourcompany.com). This is a key
element in the representation of your company through a website, as
your customers will search for your site using this domain name. While
for domestic email it is acceptable to use an ISP's domain extension
in your email address (e.g. john@freeserve.co.uk, mike@aol.com,
ianprice@blueyonder.co.uk), with businesses, requiring your customer
to type another company's name to reach your company's email box doesn't
look professional. This is why we place importance on domain
registration.

Domain names are
comprised of three parts. The first part (www.) indicates that
the website is located on the World Wide Web. Providing that
part 2 contains only letters, numbers and hyphens and the name
is not taken already, this is completely of your choice. The
third part, while no strict and enforced guidelines |
|
are set, this is generally used to determine what type of
website this is. The most common business orientated prefixes
are .com and .co.uk although other domain prefixes are
available such as .net (generally indicating a network) and
.org (typically indicating a non profit organisation). We
recommend shorter domain names and .com addresses if they are
available. |
